  1. An estimated 11% of the population of Cuyahoga County (or 149,274 people) have been raped some time in their lives and are in need of healing services.

 

  1. Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (CRCC) provides proactive and reactive services to more than 14,000 people each year.

 

  1. Nearly 15% of sexual assault and rape victims are under the age of 12.

 

  1. More than 30% of CRCC’s clients are aged 3-17.

 

  1. Survivors of sexual violence are 4 times more likely to contemplate suicide.

 

  1. Survivors of sexual violence are 3 times more likely to suffer from depression.

 

  1. Nearly 2/3 of all sexual violence is committed by someone the victim knows.

  1. CRCC provides comprehensive services to survivors – free of charge.

 

  1. CRCC is the only local agency with the specific mission of supporting survivors of sexual violence – without these services; people would have nowhere else to turn. 

 

  1. CRCC offers support groups for men, women, teens and parents of child survivors.

 

  1. Last year, CRCC provided 250 people support and information as they navigated the justice system.

 

  1. CRCC provided 815 people with direct therapy in 2007.

 

  1. Staff and volunteers answer 3,000 calls on the 24-hour hotline annually.

 

  1. In 2007, CRCC trained 1,000 police officers from 42 police agencies on how to respond to sexual violence cases and investigation best practices.

 

  1. Last year, we met 120 rape survivors at the hospital to offer advocacy and support.

 

  1. Nearly 10,000 people receive our prevention education programming each year.

 

  1. CRCC helps survivors of sexual violence return to a functional and productive lifestyle.
